• Midjourney opened image generation via the website for everyone who created 1000+ images on Midjourney.

  • Here’s my recent guide on how to create images via Midjourney website.

• The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office released a new guidance document, which clearly specifies that only “natural humans” can be awarded patents.

  • However, AI-assisted products can still be patentable if there is at least one human that can be named an inventor of any given claim.

  • A person can be recognized as a proper inventor of an AI-assisted product if “a significant contribution could be shown by the way the person constructs the prompt in view of a specific problem to elicit a particular solution from the AI system.”

  • Also, “a person who takes the output of an AI system and makes a significant contribution to the output to create an invention may be a proper inventor.”

• Stability AI introduced Stable Cascade, a new text-to-image model that is exceptionally easy to train and finetune on consumer hardware.

• Apple released a new AI model that lets users make image edits by simply describing them.

  • The model can crop, resize, flip, and add filters to images all through text prompts. 

  • The company did not say what its plans for the model are beyond research.

🎨 Featured Artist: Joshua Vermillion

Joshua Vermillion is an associate professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While his teaching, as of late, has been focused on beginning design foundations, his research deals with architectural applications of computational design methods and parametric design, digital fabrication tools and techniques, robotics and responsive systems, and other emerging technologies.
